Positions

Position: Account Executive (full-time)

The Account Executive (AE) plays a lead role on client accounts, managing day-to-day client activities, projects and teams at a tactical level and playing a critical role on development of client strategy with support from senior team members.

The AE has a strong understanding of media relations and a strong success rate of placing stories. They possess strong written and verbal communication and time management skills. They also have the ability to manage multiple projects at a tactical level. As they grow into a management role on accounts, AEs will inspire and cultivate junior team members and peers.

A successful AE will ensure client satisfaction and maintain efficiency and productivity on client accounts. They will work with minimal guidance on tactical activities and will be supervised and supported by senior team members and senior management on client strategy.

Core Responsibilities/Duties:

Management

  • Manage 2-3 accounts or act as key member of large accounts
  • Effectively manage account team members, including proper delegation of work
  • Provide guidance to and be a mentor for junior staff and interns
  • Manage multiple projects by anticipating challenges and ensuring adherence to deadlines

Media Relations

  • Manage media relations including creating and executing outreach plans, message development, management of events, media training of spokespersons and growth of contact network
  • Demonstrate creative thinking when developing pitches for clients and a keen understanding of the media landscape
  • Secure consistent and quality placements on a regular basis in top-tier print publications, in online news sources and on broadcast media
  • Establish strong relationships with relevant media to generate awareness of client’s products, services, thought leadership or activities
  • Develop effective press materials such as pitches, press releases, op-ed articles, or case studies media kits

Strategy

  • Create and support on development of public relations and communications plans that meet client objectives

Client Relations

  • Serve as a day-to-day client liaison and establish successful, productive relationships with client contacts
  • Provide client service support including attending meetings, meeting deadlines and troubleshooting issues
  • Develop weekly agendas, call recaps and media reports for client accounts

Social Media

  • Support on creation and implementation of social media campaigns for clients

Administrative

  • Assist senior team with new business research and development

Professional Development

Basic Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 3 – 4 years’ experience in public relations, communications and/or a related field (nonprofits, advocacy/mission-driven organizations, political campaigning, PR agencies, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Position: Junior Account Executive (full-time)

The Junior Account Executive (JAE) at The TASC Group plays a critical role on client accounts, supporting all day-to-day client activities, projects and teams at a tactical level with direction from senior leadership.

They display an understanding of media relations and storytelling and possess effective written and verbal communication and time management skills. They have the ability to work adeptly on multiple projects.

A successful JAE will ensure efficiency and productivity on client accounts. They will work with supervision and direction from senior leadership, while growing their own skillset and expertise in PR.

Social Media

  • Monitor and track social media for TASC
  • Provide tactical support on TASC social media accounts

Administrative

  • Provide administrative support for senior management (i.e. schedule meetings, manage travel, etc.)
  • Provide support and strategic input on TASC new business opportunities and TASC marketing efforts
  • Assist senior team with new business research and development
  • Oversee with support of intern team office management (i.e. supplies, water, snacks, etc.)

Management

  • Support on management and delegation of tasks to intern staff

Strategy

  • Display creative thinking to support development of media strategy plans for clients

Professional Development

  • Keen interest in public relations, communications, nonprofit and advocacy work, social justice issues and/or politics

Position: Part-time Intern (16 – 40 hours/week, depending on availability)

A typical day at TASC may include writing op-eds for placement in national flagship publications to rehabilitate a thought leader’s reputation, developing the media outreach strategy to build brand equity for a global nonprofit or working closely with a top-tier enterprise reporter as they build out a longform feature profile of your client. We are at the juncture of communications, non-profit advocacy and progressive politics and are seeking interns who want to learn and grow with our firm.

Intern Duties:

  • Daily sweep for client- and industry-related news items
  • Media research
  • Creation and development of media target lists
  • Tracking of client hits
  • Proofreading of internal and external documents
  • Collaboration in drafting and developing press releases and media advisories
  • Assisting team to manage red carpets (when applicable)
  • Basic administrative duties, including answering phones, monitoring email, etc.

Internship Objectives:

  • Increase knowledge of publicist/press relationships
  • Develop strong media research skills
  • Understand how to monitor clients in the press
  • Understand how to identify opportunities for clients in the press
  • Understand how to assess impact of a media hit
  • Increase level of understanding of press releases and media advisories
  • Develop basic email and phone pitching skills
  • Increase knowledge of celebrity and event management

TASC operates out of a small, open office. Interns are expected to communicate frequently with members of the TASC team. Interns will also have frequent touchpoint meetings with the Intern Supervisor to assess how well expectations and goals are being met for all parties.

Qualifications:

  • Completed at least 32 credits
  • Maintains a 3.5 GPA or above
  • Communications/Journalism/Public Relations/Social Justice/Political Science Major/Minor preferable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems
  • Social media expertise a plus
  • Knowledge/experience in website building with WordPress a plus
